This workshop was developed as part of the exhibition "Alchemy. The Great Art" at the Gemäldegalerie. Starting from the history of alchemy and the emergence of modern chemistry, participants experimented with different states of flour and explored alternative forms of periodic systems and classifications of matter.

In 1661, Robert Boyle first used the term “chemistry” in his book The Skeptical Chemist, laying the foundation for the periodic table and marking the gradual disappearance of the terms “alchemy” and “alchemist”.

Unlike modern science, alchemy combined experimentation with cosmology, imagination, and symbolic thinking. The workshop used this perspective to open up speculative and creative approaches to materials, transformation, and systems of order.
